Personal Illustration

I'm a huge lover of drawing fast and messy! I do still take extra time and care in everything I do, but drawing simply brings out a great sense of passion within me.

About

I'm known online as Kohauro, a Filipino immigrant born and raised who moved to Canada in 2016. I am a graphic designer, illustrator, and an art history student graduate who worked on the yearly official art book publication for the University of Toronto Art and Art History Department from 2024-2026.My work emphasizes bold and bright colours, embodying my vision for a vivid future where art and design encompass every aspect of life. While I enjoy putting a piece of myself in everything I create, my experiences working with first and second year design students as a Professor's Assistant made me realize the value of differing perspectives and diversity in visual style. Communication, efficiency, clarity, and self-expression are my priorities, and the more voices I work with, the more I thrive. Please contact me if you're interested in getting to know me more, I certainly want to know you more too!

Starstorm Metanoia

Back in October to November 2025, I worked on the concept and playable prototype of City of Heretics, a resource management board game. I was the visual art lead of the project, creating all the digital art assets such as the map, character/event/artifact artworks, and the graphic design aspect of the board and cards. As a result, I drew over 50 illustrations in the span of a few weeks. In addition to the visual side, I heavily worked on the rules and gameplay design, and lead gameplay and feedback sessions to improve the gameplay among other board game designers.Due to the high quality and handmade appeal of the game prototype, it tied for second place for game popularity among 14 total games!

BUFF 2026 Advertising

BUFF is an official art book publication commissioned by University of Toronto in collaboration with Sheridan College that I am currently working on as organizer, editor, and advertiser. The book features the artworks of students enrolled in the 2025-2026 term under the department of Art and Art History. As submissions are still currently being collected from students across the department, I worked on these mini handout flyers sized 8.5" x 5.5" in order to help garner more submissions. Each one features a different definition of the word "Buff", and utilizes a broad range of styles that embody the creative spirit of students.

Painter's Rake Font

This font was designed for a dual purpose: to be used as a striking display font, or to be used to make images with its wide variety of shapes that curve and bend in various directions. As the name suggests, its design was inspired by rake brushes commonly used in digital illustration.

Death of The Author Booklet

This work is an adaptation of Roland Barthes' famous essay "Death of the Author". Barthes wrote about how once a reader begins to consume the work of a creator, they can change, reinterpret, and regurgitate it into something the creator did not intend or invision. As such, I took it upon myself to interpret this meaning into the dissection and cooking of Barthes' innards, using bright and jarring colours to mask the gore.

Five Things About Me Zine

A short-form zine that talks about me. This zine is emblematic of my style back in 2023, when I was very into the feeling of simulating a scrapbook feeling in my work.
